Our thermal soaring interest group lead by Paul Wong recently organized an activity on Wednesday, 22 August, to test fly their heavy duty tow-plane in Nam Sang Wai, Yuen Long. A group of 6 pilots participated in this event. An ASW28 was aero-towed to a suitable altitude and the tow hook was released signifying the success of this aero-tow test. After 10 minutes of thermal flight, the ASW28 landed safely. On the second flight, however, the ASW28 landed a bit short of the run way and ditched into the water channel with partial damage. Apart from this minor set back, the group otherwise enjoyed a day of fun in the open field. |
