Man-On-Man Race in Clearwater Bay
23 November, 2008

The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society organized a Man-On-Man race on Sunday,  23 November 2008. This is the second MoM contest for the year 2008. The venue to hold the contest was Clearwater Bay east-facing slope. Two classes of races were scheduled, a 60" conventional class in the morning and a 48" foamy class in the afternoon. However, the wind died down in the afternoon, so the 48" foamy class was postponed until December 28, 2008, the same day for the spot landing contest. The wind was light to moderate in the morning, just enough for the 60" moldies to race. A total of 7 pilots participated in the 60" moldy class MoM race.  A race matrix of 7 competitors were derived. Air Con Wai took the first race by a large margin. Unfortunately, he clashed with Stanley's plane in the second race, both got a DNF after their plane fell down as a result of clash. Well, lucky or not, their suffered only minor damage and still be able to continue to race! Lee Man got a slow start in his first race, but he moved up fast with two wins in subsequent races. Third brother took an easy approach to avoid collision with other planes. This tactic really worked. After 7 rounds of races, Lee Man and Third brother both got 5 marks to take the lead, followed by Eric with 6 marks. A final race with Lee Man and Third brother was then arranged to determine the ranking for the champion and 1st runner-up. This race was finally won by Lee Man which granted him the title of 60" MoM champion. Congratulation to the winners! Here are the results:
