The first spot landing contest in the Year of the Pig was finished successfully on Feb 25, 2007.  It was a fine day with light wind good enough for smooth landing in Clear Water Bay.  Three concentric circles were painted on the sandy grassy slope.  Points were given according to the distance measured from the nose of the landed glider to the center target; 5 points for glider parked inside the inner circle with 1 meter diameter, 3 points for the middle circle with 3 meters diameter, 1 point for the outer circle 5 meters diameter, and 0 otherwise.

After some practising and friendly discussions of rules, the contest was started at 2:45pm with 15 contestants.  There were five rounds of contest, the contestants were divided into groups of seven or eight pilots.  Each pilot in a group launched and landed the glider in sequence.  The pilot who got the worst landing had to go down the slope to fetch all the planes, what's a fair deal!  It was quite a show to watch the pizza boy delivering 8 pizzas at the same time!

Although our experienced pilots were good in landing, to sheer the glider and park it exactly inside the inner circle on the shabby slippery slope was quite a challenging task and sometimes required more luck than skill.  The wisemen's saying, "thy who mistakes to make others laugh gets the brighter side in any game," was indeed reflected in the fourth round when Ah Pong crashed three times at launch, with a frozen look while all of us were rolling-on-floor laughing out loud, and Stanley, our dear ex-chair, forgot to turn on the radio at launch.  These two hilarious fellows did win while adding extra fun to the game.
