Hong Kong F3F League 2025, Match 5 - May 4, 2025

The 5th match of the Hong Kong F3F League 2025 was successfully held on May 4 at the South facing slope of Cheung Ngau Shan. A strong south wind blew throughout the day, averaging around 10m/s, though the first few rounds saw slightly milder and eastward-tilted winds. Eleven competitors participated, completing nine rounds from 9:50 AM to 3:35 PM.
In the first three rounds, times were generally around 50 seconds, with a few in the mid-40s. In the first round, Stanley, during the 30-second climb-up phase, accidentally triggered the timer while enthusiastically gaining height, forcing an early track entry and a suboptimal result. In the second round, Uncle Kin, besides entering the track late and cutting twice, encountered a rare airflow, posting a shocking 110-second time. Stanley started fast in the second round, hoping to recover from the first, but a cut led to a rushed turn, crashing into a rock pile and shattering his Pitbull2’s wing and fuselage! The fastest times in the first three rounds went to Ben (54.46), Ah Wah (45.99), and Ray (45.48).
By the fourth round at noon, thermals intensified, and the competition heated up. Sunny, second to fly in the round, broke Ah Wah’s two-year slope record of 40.32 seconds with 39.98 seconds. But Ah Wah quickly reclaimed the record with 38.49 seconds, snatching it back from Sunny with confidence!
The fifth round stabilized slightly. Sunny tried to take the record back from Ah Wah, earning a 1000-point with 43.91 seconds, but falling short of the record. Record holder (slow) Uncle Kin accidentally used a 2S lithium battery on standard servos, burning them out, and withdrew after the fifth round. He can now focus on launching for others!
The calm of the fifth round set the stage for intense battles in rounds 6, 7, and 8. CM rewrote the slope record in the sixth round with 37.72 seconds, then pushed it to 37.05 seconds in the seventh, securing two 1000-point rounds. Stanley, struggling throughout, finally shone in the eighth round with 37.39 seconds for a 1000-point, but it wasn’t enough to recover. In the ninth round, things calmed down, with Sunny scoring 1000 points at 42.02 seconds.
The final round was planned for 4:00 PM, but with heavy rain forecast by the Observatory, the event concluded at 3:35 PM after nine rounds. Ah Wah won the championship with consistent performance, CM took the second and the Fastest-time title with his record-breaking runs, and Sunny secured the third by a narrow margin. Congratulations to all winners!
