Slope Combat Contest, Man-on-Man and BBQ Night
6 December 2009

A slope combat contest for the year 2009 was successfully held in Clearwater Bay flying site on Sunday 6 December 2009. The wind was moderate to strong easterly, so it was certainly a good day for combat. A total of 8 pilots joined the contest. There were many spectators and visitors to watch the contest with lot of applauses. Three rounds of contest were conducted. The total scores from all these rounds were used to determine the ranking.

The contest was started at about 2:00pm after all pilots have arrived. The wind was consistently good through out the whole contest. By the time at 3:20pm, three rounds were completed. The champion who took the title of the most merciful killer was Eric Wong with a score of 168 and 8 knock downs! Eric was indeed a serious killer for a long time! His record showed that he got more than 5 hits in each minute, just amazing! Next on the line was Kenneth who didn't look like a serious killer at all. But the true is that he killed so mercifully sometimes can even suppress Eric. The third place went to Uncle Chan whom was the last year champion. Perhaps he is getting a bit old and not so merciful as the younger guys any more. Finally, the booby prize went to Fat Pang, who, despite of working hard to avoid being a mountain goat, was still an easy prey for the killers!

Each winner got a beautiful trophy and the champion also got a prize sponsored by Windrider R.S.B. Aviation Co. Ltd. Thanks the boss of Windrider, Mr. Lou Tsz Ming, for his generosity. Thank you for your participation and of course our sponsor.  Below is the score table for the slope combat.

An Man On Man race for 48" EPP wings was also conducted after the slope combat. This race was actually a re-scheduled Man on Man race because of poor weather last year. A total of 7 pilots participated in the contest. Before the race, there were some disagreements from fellow pilots about the EPP planes that were allowed for the race. We all knew that a Bat definitely runs faster than a Bee. But since the rule doesn't limit the types of planes used provided that they are EPP and smaller than 48", so we agreed to let the Bat join the race although this may be disadvantageous to pilots flying Bee or other slower planes. After 7 rounds of intense contest, the champion is Uncle Chan who indeed flew a Bat. The 1st runner-up is Lee Man and the 2nd runner-up is "Doctor". Congratulation to the winners who each got a beautiful trophy and the champion also got a prize sponsored by  Windrider R.S.B. Aviation Co. Ltd. Below is the score table for the MoM race.

HKRCSS also organized a BBQ get together night after the contest. The venue is Flower BBQ ground in Tai Po Tsai in Sai Kung. Over 40 fellow r/c pilots together with their families attended this wonderful event. The kids were as happier as their parents because they were given each a toy gun for their own style of gunship combat!  Good food and friendly discussion marked the enjoyable faces of our fellow pilots after a day of intensive killing, cheers!
