Slope Combat Contest
3 June, 2007

The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society organized a slope combat contest on Sunday, June 2007 in Fei Ngo Shan southwesterly slope. The contest has become a bi-annual event for the combat diehards.  A total of 21 pilots joined the contest this year. There were many spectators and visitors to watch the contest with lot of applauses. The competitors were split into two groups; each group has 10 or 11 pilots. A total of four rounds were conducted. The total scores from all four rounds were used to determine the winners.  The wind of the day was moderate southwesterly - a perfect condition for slope combat. The contest was started at 12pm and finished at about 3pm. After a day of intensive 'killing', the winner who took the title of the most merciful killer is Uncle Chan, what's a surprise! He used to look like a kind old man, but in fact, he is a serious "killer", Ha Ha!  His record of number of kills is 7 and a total of 76 contacts, amazing! Each winner has both a beautiful trophy and a cash prize, yes! a cash prize sponsored by Windrider R.S.B. Aviation Co. Ltd. Thanks the boss of Windrider, Mr. Lou Tsz Ming, for his generosity. The cash prizes for the champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up are  $750, $500 and $250, respectively. The booby prize went to Back Boy for his amazing speed in plane pick up! Thank you for your participation and of course our sponsor. See you this October when the combat diehards meet again!

Ah Pong's mountain goat is certainly a cooperative prey to be "killed"

Hi guys, are you ready for the combat

The atmosphere is intense just before the killing starts

Those serious killers all have the same pose - one leg stepping on the dam. Why?

Ah Lok is very careful to mark down the scores

The killing field over Hong Kong sky

Come on, fly closer to get more hits!

See the painful fear faces of them,  they are not killers, they are actually preys to be killed

Ah Pong is not a serious killer, because, instead of aiming at the target planes, he actually aimed at the car and was caught right on the spot!

Who will be the owners of these beautiful trophies?

The second runner up Eric (right) receives a trophy and a cash prize of $250. Eric said "I am not in the killing mood today, otherwise there would be many more victims today"

The first runner up Li Man (right) receives a trophy and a prize of $500. He said "I was playing a bit mercy to dear friends, otherwise I should be crown as the king of the serious killers"

The champion today, Uncle Chan (right), receives a trophy and a cash prize of $750. The most merciful killer this year is Uncle Chan. I can't believe it - he doesn't look like a serious killer!

The booby prize went to Black Boy (right). You know he got high score also. I wonder how he was knocked down that often and still managed to get high scores! many suicide kills and fast pick up? What's a good tactic!

Congratulation to the winners. Well done! Those serious killers of course deserve to keep their trophies and prizes!

A group photo after the combat, cheers and see you in the next combat contest!
