Slope Combat Contest

The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society held its annual slope combat contest on Sunday, October 15, 2006 in Clearwater Bay east-facing slope. The contest becomes an annual gathering of our slope combat diehards in Hong Kong. This year, 24 pilots were participating in the contest. There were many spectators to watch the contest with lot of applauses. The competitors were split into two groups; each group has 12 pilots, and the contest was run in two stages. In the first stage, 4 rounds of combat were conducted, each round is 10 minutes long. The best 12 pilots from these two groups in the first stage will be promoted to the final stage. In the final stage, 2 rounds of combat were conducted, and the highest scores from the final stage were used to determine the winners.  The wind of the day was a bit disappointing with only marginal wind for the contest. Anyhow, the challenge of being knocked and then survived in marginal condition was proved to be quite serve. Many pilots had to spend a large amount of efforts in multiple pickups of their knocked down planes. After a day of intensive 'killing', the winners who took the title of the most merciful killer is Billy Pang. His record of number of kills is 5 and 22 contacts in a single round, amazing! Each winner has both a beautiful trophy and a cash prize, yes! a cash prize generously sponsored by Windrider R.S.B. Aviation Co. Ltd. The cash prizes for the champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up are  $2,000, $1,000 and $500, respectively. Thank you for your participation and of course our sponsor. See you next year!

The second runner up Fat Cat (left) receives a trophy and a cash prize of $500. Fat Cat said "I fight to the last with many suicide kills..."


..., you see! I have many scratches as a result of extreme fast recoveries of my knocked-down plane. I should deserve for this prize!"

The first runner up Ken28 (left) receives a trophy and a prize of $1,000. Ken28 said "I am a new comer in slope combat but I don't give the seniors a shit! I just kill as many as I wish!"
The champion today, Billy (right), receives a trophy and a cash prize of $2,000. The most merciful killer, Billy, smile please! Is money important to you?

The booby prize went to Fat Cat (right). You know he got the third prize as well. I wonder how he was knocked down that often and still managed to get good scores! many suicide kills and fast pick up?
Congratulation to the three winners. Of course they really deserve to keep their trophies and prizes!
