HKRCSS Open Day
and Slope Combat
20 November,
2005
The
Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society organized an
open day and
slope combat in
Clearwater Bay north-facing
slope on
Sunday 20November,
2005. The
combat event was organized as a demonstration in the open day to
attract new comers to this hobby. Although the number of newcomers is
disappointingly small, the club managed to arrange a guided training
session for each of the interested pilots and finally, after the
training, 3 new pilots decided to join the club showing their interest
further in r/c sailplane flying.
It
was the first ever slope combat held in the north-facing slope of
Clearwater Bay. We all know that the nasty wind condition in the north
slope. The wind speed can be high in a second but virtually nil in
another second! The hard work in recovering planes in the dense bushes
of this slope is all we want to avoid. Still, a total of 9 combat
pilots gather here to fight for their faith in winning the title -brave
guys! Finally, Eric took the title with a convincing large umber of
hits, congratulation! HKRCSS
would like to thank the sponsor,
Windrider
Aviation Co. Ltd. for their generous supports. The event would not be a
success without the tireless hard work of the committee members of
HKRCSS and other volunteer
helpers.
Cheers!
Are you ready for the combat?
They are crazy cowboys
Combat in progress - fly closer together!
Guys,
you look so relaxing!
Come on - who will be the winner?
The hit rates for some pilots are high
There are only a few planes survived! You know the work in recovering
planes in north-facing slope is very demanding!
See a movie for kick start the second round contest
Ah Joe, we have never seen you recovering a plane so fast in the
north-facing slope - well done!
The
2nd runner-up is Lee Man
The 1st runner-up is Yeung, who fought so hard in the contest only to
loose by a small margin
