HKRCSS Open Day
16 May, 2004

The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society organized an open day in Clearwater Bay flying site on Sunday 16 May, 2004. The weather that day was really hot - but it didn't stop people attending the open day. The event attracted a large crowd of guests who are interested in becoming r/c glider pilots. The open day was officially opened by HKRCSS's Chairman, Mr. Chester Tai, at 1:00 pm, followed by a talk on the principles of r/c soaring given by HKRCSS's Training Chair, Y.C. Lui. His talk is simulating for people who are interested to get involved in this wonderful sport. The exhibition followed after the talk with the display of various kinds of glider models. Then, a flying demonstration was performed. The guests had a taste of flying a r/c glider themselves under the supervision by our expert pilots. The event went smoothly without a single incidence, although there were a few cases that our guests and our supervising pilots, of course, had to recover the planes landed far down the slope. A lucky draw was held for our guests who joined HKRCSS as members right after the training session. The event has drawn to a close at 5:30pm. The happy faces were seen leaving not only with their prizes but also the invaluable experience of flying a r/c glider. HKRCSS would like to thank the sponsors; Waigo Model Co. and Windrider Aviation Co. Ltd. for their generous supports. The event would not be a success without the tireless hard work of the committee members of HKRCSS.
