The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society

Red Bull Paper Wing Hong Kong Qualifier
4 April 2006

The Hong Kong Radio Control Soaring Society was invited as a judge for a paper wings contest organized by Red Bull. The club was also invited to exhibit the r/c soaring activities with model gliders. A flying demonstration was also performed by our club's experience pilots. Red Bull organizes a worldwide paper wings contest every year. This year, the final will be held in Austria, May 5-6, 2006. The Hong Kong qualifier contest was held in International Trade and Exhibition Centre (HITEC) in Kowloon Bay on 4 April 2006. The paper wing glider must be constructed from piece of paper by folding only. It is very challenging to fold a paper correctly to get the CG of the glider right and also relatively floaty for duration flight. The contest is opened to university students in Hong Kong. Please see the leaflet and the contest schedule for this paper wing contest below. For more information, please check the Official Red Bull Paperwings Site.

Are you interested in the A380 Airliner or flight simulator?

Thank you Tsz Ming for showing his new design: A380 Airliner

Ah Kin is our chief pilot for demonstration

There is a 60m track for contestants to fly the paper wing

The MC is asking one of the contestant about his design idea

Stanley is invited to be a judge and is inspecting a paper wing from a contestant. How much score can he get for his aerobatic flight?

Oh! 7 points from Stanley but the others seem not so impressed.

Please see a movie of 3D flying demonstration taken during the contest.
